Colocation Policy
Effective Date: August 14, 2026 Last Updated: August 14, 2026
This Colocation Policy ("Policy") governs Customer's use of colocation space — racks, cabinets, cages, and associated facilities — at HostColo's data centers in Bethel, CT; Denver, CO; and Los Angeles, CA (each, a "Facility"). This Policy is incorporated into, and subject to, the terms of the applicable Master Services Agreement or service order between HostColo ("HostColo," "we," "us") and Customer. This Policy applies to Colocation Service customers; it does not apply to Cloud VPS, Dedicated Server, Mac Silicon AI Server, Storage, or Virtual NAS customers, whose hardware is owned and managed by HostColo.
1. Facility Access
1.1 Authorized Personnel
Customer must provide HostColo with a written list of individuals authorized to access Customer's colocation space ("Authorized Personnel") and must promptly notify HostColo, in writing, of any personnel changes, including removals.
1.2 Identification and Access Control
All Authorized Personnel must present valid, government-issued photo identification on each visit and will be issued facility access credentials (badge, biometric enrollment, and/or PIN, depending on Facility). Credentials are non-transferable; lost or stolen credentials must be reported to HostColo immediately.
1.3 Access Hours
Authorized Personnel may access Facilities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to temporary restrictions during declared emergencies or security incidents.
1.4 Visitors and Escorts
Individuals not on the Authorized Personnel list ("Visitors") must be sponsored by an Authorized Personnel member, sign in at the Facility's front desk/NOC, and be escorted at all times in secured areas, including the data hall. HostColo may deny Visitor access at its sole discretion.
1.5 Video Surveillance and Logging
Facilities are monitored by closed-circuit video and access-controlled entry points 24/7/365. Access logs and video footage are retained for a minimum of 90 days and may be provided to Customer or law enforcement in connection with a security investigation involving Customer's space.
2. Equipment Requirements
2.1 Rack-Mountable Equipment
All equipment in shared cabinets must be standard 19-inch rack-mountable equipment, properly secured with rack screws or cage nuts, and must not extend beyond the cabinet's front or rear rails in a way that obstructs airflow or adjacent customer space.
2.2 Power Utilization
Customer's power draw must not exceed the circuit capacity specified in Customer's service order. Customer must not daisy-chain power strips beyond manufacturer specifications or use non-datacenter-grade PDUs without HostColo's prior approval. Overloaded circuits may be de-energized by HostColo without notice if necessary to prevent equipment damage or fire risk, with notice to Customer as soon as reasonably practicable thereafter.
2.3 Weight Limits
Data hall floors are rated for a maximum static load of 250 lbs per square foot. Customer must not exceed this limit, and must contact HostColo in advance of installing any single cabinet or piece of equipment that concentrates significant weight, so it can be evaluated against the floor's point-load rating. Installations exceeding this limit require prior written approval and, if necessary, engineering review.
2.4 Cabling Standards
All cabling (power, network, fiber) must be labeled at both ends with Customer name/circuit ID, dressed neatly using approved cable management, and must not obstruct airflow, aisles, or adjacent equipment. HostColo may require re-cabling of non-compliant installations at Customer's expense.
2.5 Prohibited Equipment and Materials
The following require HostColo's prior written consent:
- Equipment generating excessive heat, noise, or electromagnetic interference beyond normal data center equipment.
- Flammable, hazardous, or combustible materials, including cardboard/packaging left in the data hall.
- Personal space heaters, fans, or unapproved cooling devices.
- Wireless access points or transmitting devices that could interfere with Facility systems.
3. Shipping and Receiving
Shipments must be labeled with Customer name, account/circuit ID, and destination cabinet location. HostColo will accept deliveries during business hours on Customer's behalf and hold packages in a secure receiving area for pickup or installation. HostColo is not responsible for the contents, condition, or security of packages beyond commercially reasonable care; storage beyond 5 business days may incur a storage fee. Outbound shipments require advance notice and a completed equipment removal form (see Section 5).
4. Remote Hands
HostColo offers remote hands services for tasks such as power cycling, cable tracing, visual inspection, and basic hardware swaps. 1 hour/month included at no charge with colocation service; additional time billed at $150/hour, minimum increment 15 minutes. Requests are submitted via email or phone and fulfilled on a best-effort basis outside of emergency response.
5. Equipment Removal and Decommissioning
Customer must submit a written equipment removal request at least 24 hours in advance, specifying the equipment and the individual(s) authorized to remove it. Upon termination of colocation service, Customer must remove all equipment within 10 business days of the termination effective date. Equipment not removed within this period may, after 30 days' written notice, be deemed abandoned and disposed of or relocated at Customer's expense.
6. Cross-Connects
Customer may request a cross-connect to another customer, carrier, or HostColo's meet-me room, subject to availability and HostColo's then-current cross-connect fee schedule. Cross-connects to another customer's space require both parties' authorization.
7. Insurance
Customer is encouraged to maintain, and may be required under the applicable service agreement to maintain, commercial general liability and property insurance covering Customer's equipment at the Facility — HostColo's property insurance does not cover Customer-owned equipment.
8. Customer Conduct
While at a Facility, Authorized Personnel and Visitors must:
- Comply with all Facility safety rules, posted signage, and staff instructions.
- Refrain from accessing, tampering with, or photographing equipment, cabling, or space not belonging to Customer.
- Refrain from smoking, consuming food or drink, or bringing open containers into the data hall.
- Immediately report any safety hazard, security concern, or equipment malfunction to Facility staff.
Violation of this Policy may result in restriction or revocation of Facility access privileges, in addition to any remedies available under the applicable service agreement or HostColo's Acceptable Use Policy.
9. Emergency Procedures
In a fire, environmental, or life-safety emergency, Facility staff and posted emergency procedures take precedence over any instruction in this Policy. Customer personnel must follow all evacuation and emergency instructions issued by Facility staff or emergency responders.
10. Changes to this Policy
HostColo may update this Policy from time to time upon notice to active colocation customers, particularly where required by safety, security, or regulatory considerations.

This is a template Colocation Policy provided as a starting point. Facility-specific details (access hours, weight limits, remote hands rates, storage terms) should be completed per location, and the final policy should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before publication. HostColo's colocation facilities are currently assumed to be the same three sites as sister brand Datagram — confirm this before relying on the addresses/specifics implied here.
